The Quantum Energy Science Group (QES) at MIT studies how nuclear reactions can be altered if they take place in condensed matter. The questions that are investigated are mainly two:
- Can quantum phenomena in the condensed matter speed up nuclear reactions that happen in such environment?
- Can these phenomena alter the products of nuclear reactions?
The laboratory is composed of an interdisciplinary group of scientists interested in learning from each other to effectively combine theory with modeling and ultimately inform experiments.
